PROFILE

A veteran of the National Gendarmerie, Gilles Touré is the longest-serving GIGN operative. Fiercely protective of his teammates, this gentle giant would not hesitate to throw himself in front of a bullet if it meant protecting his fellow operators from harm. He brandishes an extra-large riot shield, first issued in the 1980’s, that has seen more action than most operators.

GAMEPLAY

Montagne is the ultimate pointman to breach the enemy lines: he can expand his shield to fully cover him from head-to-toe while standing, providing extra cover for him and those behind him. The inclined top part also provide extra cover from enemy fire from above. While Montagne’s shield is expanded, he cannot use weapons or do melee, so make sure you have a teammate with you that can engage in combat while protected by Montagne.

Montagne is very useful to block a tight area from enemy fire since he cannot have his shield stance broken by melee attacks, but be careful in open areas: Montagne is slower when the shield is expanded and his back is left open to enemy fire. Montagne is also a very effective scout: use him to peek safely into an enemy siege and tell your teammates the location of any hostiles.

UNIQUE GADGET

Le Roc was first issued in the late 1980s. A composite of reinforced alloys and Kevlar, its sturdiness and well-designed collapsible feature, has made it a staple in GIGN operations for nearly thirty years.

Toure’s shield is the only original Le Roc still in service. Though it has seen its fair share of conflict, the device has become an extension of Toure, having saved his life and members of his team on multiple occasions. It will most likely will remain on active duty until Toure retires.
