As teams start preparing for a new season of competitive Siege with the start of BLAST R6's Season 2023, here is a guide to Stage 1, with extra details on Leagues' calendars and participating teams, signups for the Opens and more.

Format

At the beginning of the Stage, the 10 teams will be split into 2 groups of 5 teams, Group A and Group B. Teams will compete online in a Round Robin with matches played in Bo1 and will be awarded points: 3 points for a win, 2 points for a win in overtime, 1 point for a loss in overtime, 0 points for a loss.

The top 3 teams from each group will advance to the EU League Deciders.

The EU League Deciders will follow a modified GSL format with Bo3 matches:

  • Rank 1 of each group in the Round Robin Phase will start directly in the Semi-finals
  • In each group, Rank 2 will compete against Rank 3 of the other group to determine which team will advance to the Semi-finals. The losing teams of these 2 matches will drop into a Lower Bracket.

The EU League Deciders will determine the seeding of each of the 6 teams and how they progress on their journey towards a qualification to the Major:

  • Both winners of the Deciders' Semi Finals advance directly to Phase 2 of the Major
  • Winner of the Deciders' Lower Bracket - Round 1, Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 1 and Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 2, will join the Major EU LCQ
  • Winner of the Deciders' Lower Bracket - Round 2 will advance to Phase 1 of the Major
  • Bottom 2 teams in Group A and B at the end of the Round Robin phase will join the EU Open in the Qualifiers Playoffs.

At the beginning of the Stage, the 8 teams will compete online in a Round Robin with matches played in Bo1 and will be awarded points: 3 points for a win, 2 points for a win in overtime, 1 point for a loss in overtime, 0 points for a loss.

The top 6 teams will advance to the NA League Deciders. The bottom 2 teams at the end of the Round Robin phase will join the NA Open in the Phase 3 Qualifiers.

The NA League Deciders will follow a modified GSL format with Bo3 matches:

  • Rank 1 and 2 in the Round Robin Phase will start directly in the Semi-finals
  • Rank 3 will compete against Rank 6 and Rank 4 will compete against Rank 5 to determine which team will advance to the Semi-finals. The losing teams of these 2 matches will drop into a Lower Bracket.

The NA League Deciders will determine the seeding of each of the 6 teams and how they progress on their journey towards a qualification to the Major:

  • Both winners of the Deciders' Semi Finals advance directly to Phase 2 of the Major
  • Winner of the Deciders' Lower Bracket - Round 1, Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 1 and Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 2, will join the Major NA LCQ
  • Winner of the Deciders' Lower Bracket - Round 2 will advance to Phase 1 of the Major

  • Both winners of the Deciders' Semi Finals advance directly to Phase 2 of the Major
  • Winner of the Deciders' Lower Bracket - Round 1, Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 1 and Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 2, will join the Major Brazil LCQ
  • Winner of the Deciders' Lower Bracket - Round 2 will advance to Phase 1 of the Major

  • In each group, Rank 2 will compete against Rank 3 of the other group to determine which team will advance to the Semi-finals. The losing teams of these 2 matches will drop into a Lower Bracket.

The Japan League Deciders will determine the seeding of each of the 6 teams and how they progress on their journey towards a qualification to the Major:

  • Winner of the Deciders' Semi Finals will advance directly to Phase 2 of the Major
  • Runner-up of the Deciders' Semi Finals will advance to Phase 1 of the Major
  • Winner of the Lower Bracket - Round 1, Runner-up of the Lower Bracket - Round 2, and Winner of the Lower Bracket - Round 2 will join the Major Japan LCQ

Following the merge of the former LATAM South and Mexico Divisions, we wanted to prepare something special with our teams to celebrate the launch of the LATAM League. Stay tuned for the reveal of our participating teams!

Format

At the beginning of the Stage, the 8 teams will be split into 2 groups of 4 teams, Group A and Group B. Teams will compete online in a Round Robin with matches played in Bo3 to determine their seeding for the next phase.

All 8 teams will advance to the next phase, the LATAM League Deciders, where:

  • The top 2 teams from each group will enter cross-group Playoffs Semi-Finals and Grand Final.
  • Both groups' 3rd places will enter a Best Third Place match.
  • Both groups' 4th places will enter an Elimination Match.

At the end of the Deciders:

  • The winner of the Deciders' Grand Final will join Phase 1 of the Major
  • The losers of the Deciders' playoffs participants will join the Major LATAM LCQ
  • The winner of the Deciders' Best Third Place match will join the Major LATAM LCQ
  • The loser of the Deciders' Best Third Place match will join the Major LATAM Pre-LCQ
  • The winner of the Deciders' Elimination match will join the Major LATAM Pre-LCQ

Open qualifiers:

Format:

The EU Open Qualifiers will be divided into 3 online open qualifiers, connected by a point system. The open qualifiers will follow a Single Elimination Bracket with matches played in Bo1 until the round of 16. The following rounds will be played in Bo3.

At the end of each of the 3 open qualifiers, teams will be awarded points:

  • Rank 1: 100 Points
  • Rank 2: 75 Points
  • Ranks 3-4: 50 Points
  • Ranks 5-8: 25 Points
  • Ranks 9-16: 15 Points
  • Ranks 17-32: 10 Points

At the end of the 3rd open qualifiers, based on the cumulated number of points, the top 11 teams will qualify to the Qualifiers Playoffs.

  • EU Open Qualifier 1: March 11 & 12 |1PM CET
  • EU Open Qualifier 2: March 18 & 19 |1PM CET
  • EU Open Qualifier 3: March 25 & 26 |1PM CET

All EU Open Qualifiers matches will be open to community casting.

The Open Qualifiers will offer a EUR 25,000 total prizepool.

Qualifiers Playoffs:

  • Top 11 teams from the Open Qualifiers
  • The runner-up of Season 2022's European Challenger League
  • Bottom 4 teams from the EU League
Format:

In the EU Open, the Qualifiers Playoffs will follow a Single Elimination Bracket. Matches will be played online in Bo3.

The Top 4 teams will advance to the Major EU LCQ.

Phase 1:

Format:

In the NA Open, Phase 1 will follow a Single Elimination Bracket with all matches played online in Bo1, except for Quarter Finals matches, which will be played in Bo3 as teams will look to secure a spot to Phase 2.

The top 8 teams will advance to Phase 2.

  • NA Open - Phase 1 Qualifier 1: March 4 & 5
  • NA Open - Phase 1 Qualifier 2: March 11 & 12

Phase 2:

Format:

Phase 2 will follow a Double Elimination Bracket with matches played in Bo3.

The top 6 teams will advance to Phase 3

Format:

Phase 3 will follow a Single Elimination Bracket with matches played in Bo3.

The top 4 teams will advance to the Major NA LCQ.

At the end of each of the 4 open qualifiers, teams will be awarded points:

  • Rank 1: 100 Points
  • Rank 2: 75 Points
  • Ranks 3-4: 50 Points
  • Ranks 5-8: 25 Points

  • Ranks 17-32: 10 Points

At the end of the 4th open qualifiers, based on the cumulated number of points, the top 12 teams will qualify to the Qualifiers Playoffs.
