ABOUT THE CLOSED ALPHA
-
What’s a Closed Alpha? What is the purpose?
-
A Closed Alpha is an early testing period with a limited number of players and a small sample of content from the full game. This is a work-in-progress product and players are likely to experience some issues that will affect their gameplay experience. Our team’s main goals during this time are to:
-
- Generate feedback from a small, dedicated group of players about the gameplay, their online experience, and anything else we can use to improve the game.
-
- Test the stability and the online infrastructures on a limited sample of players in order help us handle more players on our servers in the future.
-
Why is Closed Alpha PC-only?
-
For Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, PC is the lead development platform and we feel that it’s natural to start by testing the game on this platform.
-
Where can I play the Closed Alpha?
-
The Closed Alpha will be on PC-only, although the full game will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If you are selected to participate in the Closed Alpha, we will send you an email with instructions on how to access the game.
-
What are the PC system requirements?

The minimum Internet broadband is: 512Kbps download/256Kbps upload.
-
What are the languages supported during the Closed Alpha phase ?
-
The Rainbow 6 Closed Alpha and all related materials will be exclusively in English. Please make sure to submit your feedback to our team in English.
-
When is the Closed Alpha and how long will it last?
-
The Rainbow Six Siege PC Closed Alpha will start on April 7th and end on April 13th, 10AM Eastern. Exact times may vary depending on your region.
-
Can I discuss, capture and publish my own gameplay content?
-
Yes! We want to be as transparent as possible and let people freely share their experiences during the Closed Alpha. We encourage you to stream, post videos and discuss your thoughts publically. However, please always keep in mind that this is a work-in-progress product and that you are likely to experience issues that will detract from your experience. We are using this testing period to better identify those issues and correct them for the launch of the full game.
-
As the game runs in 60 FPS and 1080p, in order to provide the best experience possible to you and your audience, we highly recommend you to follow the previously mentioned PC requirements. We also recommend a minimum internet broadband is of 10Mb download/2Mb upload for this exercise. This way, you will avoid frame drops and lack of processor resources, whether you try to capture for VOD or livestream.
-
We recommend that you stream the game in full HD (1080p) and 60 FPS. If you do not meet the suggested configuration but still want to share your experience, please advise your viewers that what they see is not representative of the final quality of the game.
-
How big is the download?
-
The download will be about 9GB. Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive, and give yourself some time for the download.
-
What content will be available during the Closed Alpha?
-
Closed Alpha will feature a limited amount of content in order to focus on testing the servers and core gameplay mechanics. More details on the Closed Alpha content will be revealed closer to the start.
-
Will there be more content in the full game at launch?
-
Yes. The content available in the Closed Alpha is a small sample of the full scope of the game. There will be more maps, operators and other features available at game launch. We keep the content limited during this testing period for more focused testing and feedback.
