Closed Alpha Content

The Operators, The Maps, and the Mode

It’s time to pull the curtain back and let you inside the game we’ve been passionately working on for the last two years. The Rainbow Six Siege Closed Alpha for PC is on the way, and we’re excited and grateful to have you with us in the next stage towards launch.

Don’t worry if you haven’t received an email for the Closed Alpha yet, they will be sent out shortly before it starts. Still have questions? You can check out the FAQ, and we’re very active in the official subreddit, forums, or tweet us at @R6ComDevs.

Now, let’s take a look at what you’ll find in the Closed Alpha. The content is just a small sample of the full scope of the game, but it allows us to test the core gameplay loops.

The Operators

There will be 10 operators to choose from during the Closed Alpha. Operators are specialists with their own specific area of expertise within Siege operations. Following the Rainbow Six legacy, they come from the world’s best Special Forces units and are masters in their field. Each has their own unique personality & specialty. Some are focused on assault where as others are defense-oriented.

They add a new tactical layer to the Siege experience and push tactics and teamplay even further, while staying true to the Rainbow Six legacy. Players will put together these operators to create their best CTU (counter-terrorism unit) composition and defeat the opposing team.

The Maps

House

We’ve put a lot of work into the House map since last year’s E3 and are proud to show a redesigned version of it during Closed Alpha. It’s the smallest of all maps featured in the game, but Rainbow Six Siege is all about short range confrontations and indoor environments, and it’s a prime example of destructive depth and replayability.

Presidential Plane

One of the most iconic settings for a CTU operation, this presidential plane offers an exotic and unique siege experience, plunging you into one of the most confining and nerve wracking environments of modern terrorism. It’s claustrophobic, tense and constrained – involving limited breaching opportunities and sight lines.

The Game Mode

Hostage Rescue

				![](http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/ubicom/Rainbow6/r6-hostage_mode-alpha.png)

Finally, you’ll be able to play the game mode you saw at E3 last year. Each match is 5vs5 and lasts 3-4 minutes every round. To win a match, the defenders need to maintain control of the hostage until time expires. Attackers need to extract the hostage. If either team kills the hostage, their team instantly loses. Another winning condition is to kill all of the players on the opposing team. Each siege is unique, depending on the situation or the location, but every siege has a similar process - different steps the player will go through. From the Preparation Phase to Action Phase, you and your team will need to execute with precision.
