A good offense is the best defense

It is often said that offense is the best defense and since we covered how to defend your settlement it is now time to tear down those towers with siege units! And don’t forget to help your military units with some ritualists for even greater impact and a chance to swing the balance of an almost lost battle in your favor.

[TSR] News - Siege and Support Units - 01

Siege Units: These units are very powerful when it comes to destroying enemy towers and clearing the way for your units. They will also help you to lay siege to your opponent’s settlement and quickly destroy important buildings. We are differentiating between 2 different types:

  • Siege Infantry: This type is very affordable in the early to mid-game. The inflict a lot of damage on/when targeting/when attacking buildings but have a short range of attack.
  • Siege Artillery: This is a late-game unit as most of the material is only available in the later stages. They have a very high damage output when targeting/attacking buildings and a very long range.

Both siege units have valuable/useful advantages against other buildings or towers, however, they are very weak when fighting other military units which also makes them very vulnerable.

Siege units will always have a special place in the hearts of strategy players. We wanted to offer something very unique! They surely get the job done, but players still have to be careful with their use as they are not good in fighting other units – Creative Director

[TSR] News - Siege and Support Units - 02

Ritualists: These units, as the name suggests, support your military units with different abilities. Some of these abilities need to be researched in order to be unlocked – the choice is completely yours. Abilities also come with a cooldown and if you want to improve the abilities make sure to also check out the academy.

  • Healing Winds: It is an automated cast by the ritualists on your wounded allied units to heal them.
  • Wild Roar (needs to be researched): This is an AoE (Area of Effect) buff on allied units which will increase their attack for various seconds
  • Grasp of Mist (needs to be researched): This is an AoE (Area of Effect) de-buff on enemy units which will slow them down.

“Ritualists led us to very interesting questions during their conception. We even created the concept of “support-move” to make sure the armies would stick together!” – Creative Director

What will your military strategy look like? Will you go on the offense and tear down their settlements or will you build a strong defense and play the long game? What do you think will be the key to victory? Let us know in the comments!
