Community Spotlight - Community Discord

Today we're here with the first instalment of the Community Spotlight series where we want to showcase members of the Skull and Bones community. We couldn't think of any other Community member to start with than Veledrome, one of our Keepers of the Code, and the Captain behind the Skull and Bones Community Discord.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? How long have you been a member of Skull and Bones' Community?

Veledrome: I am a Twitch streamer and enjoy gaming in most of my spare time. I have joined the community of Skull and Bones in 2018 after seeing the trailer. I joined the Discord server which only had around one thousand members back then and it was amazing to see how excited the people and I were for the game.

Tell us about the Skull and Bones Community Discord, and the mission of your project.

Veledrome: I would consider the Skull and Bones community Discord to be by far the largest forum for people who enjoy the game to hang out in. We also run the subreddit r/SkullandBonesGame along with it, thus the biggest portion of the community is hanging out in these spaces. Knowing that, we decided that it would be a good idea if we acted as the central hub for this game's community, by listing servers from other community members in our server. These are mostly servers for Skull and Bones community members from specific countries, or other servers such as small clans' people have created.

We also make sure that everybody stays updated immediately, whenever there is news about the game.

When was Skull and Bones Community Discord created, and how has it evolved over time?

Veledrome: The Skull and Bones community server was created by one of the Keepers back in 2017, who has since then decided to move on and left the management of the server to me. The server has stayed as a very small community up until we started getting the beta tests for the game and from that moment on, we knew that this was the central hub for this game's community. It is now, by far, the largest and most active place for people who enjoy this game to hang out.

What does Skull and Bones and the community mean to you all?

Veledrome: I basically spent the last 6 years of my life hanging out in the community Discord. Even when sometimes we had no news about the game for a long time, we always had things to talk about on a daily basis. I made a lot of friends over the years on this server, so the community is really something special to me. Now that the game is out, the community is way bigger. It is always nice to see how much people are enjoying the game and how they can find ways to maximise their gameplay.

What's your favourite thing about being a member of the Skull and Bones community?

Veledrome: I think for me, it is the memories and friends I made along the way. I know that sounds cliché, but it is really the case. Nowadays the community is much larger, so I enjoy reading people's feedback regarding specific things in the game. I also love seeing people's screenshots because this game does look amazing.

Tough question time, what's your favourite part of Skull and Bones? And why?

Veledrome: Personally, my favourite part about this game is the environment and sailing through the open ocean, listening to the waves and the creaking of the wooden ship.

If you could tell the Community anything about Skull and Bones what would that be?

Veledrome: Sometimes we get caught up in the game systems and this and that, but we forget the beauty and the immersion the game brings. A good way to relax would be sailing through the rivers in Africa!

What's next for the Skull and Bones Discord?

Veledrome: The main thing for us going forward is still to be the main hub for this game's community. We will continue to provide you with game news, other events and give you a chance to show off your own small community. We are also trying our best to keep it as a place where people can come and hang out in a positive environment.
