Xavier Marquis, the Creative Director of Rainbow Six Siege revealed that “while examining BOPE, we felt that they represented another way of interacting with their environment and offered new opportunities for a dynamic gameplay.”
BOPE have extensive experience in guerrilla and close quarter urban warfare due to working exclusively in favelas, where streets can quickly become lethal ambush sites.
The intention was to create street-smart Operators who had ample experience navigating such perilous perimeters. That’s why our new Operators can adapt to their environment to gain a tactical advantage. Marquis added that “this season we wanted our Operators to display a level of resourcefulness that goes beyond the use of gadgets—we can’t say more than that at the moment, but expect the tactical gameplay to gain in intensity.”
Another element that is specific to BOPE is their high caliber weaponry. To reflect this expertise, our BOPE Operators will be equipped with the M-249, M12, SPAS 15, and PARA-308 as primary weapons, and will use the PRB92 as a secondary weapon. These heavy firearms will allow for an explosive gameplay when navigating the narrow streets of our new map Favela.
