Mount Qaf is full of formidable enemies and foes, but the toughest of them all are the bosses. Since Artaban is busy saving Mount Qaf, let's give you a few tips and tricks on how to make your life easier when you find an encounter.
1.Prepare and Upgrade
You can do a lot of things when you return to Haven. Think about your preparations before facing a tough boss or if you've suffered a few Game Over's:

Upgrade your weapon damage

Upgrade your amulets, or buy new ones

Unlock new potion & amulet slots
If you still feel underpowered, why not stray from the main path to do some side quests? You might get some useful rewards!
- Parry!
The art of parrying requires good timing, but it can counter some attacks and it negates the damage. Note that you can also parry projectiles.
Sometimes, bosses perform a Reckless Attack, manifested by their eyes flashing yellow. If you get the timing right and parry a Reckless Attack, the boss will take significant damage while you will perform a stylish and powerful counterattack. Don't miss that opportunity!
- Learn the patterns.
If you learn the patterns of the boss, you'll know exactly when you can go on the offense, when you must stay defensive, and when you can expect a Reckless Attack.
But beware, some bosses can enter a second or third phase after having lost some of their health bar, which will impact their patterns!
- Dodge!
There are some attacks that you cannot parry, and they hurt! Dodge out of the way when your enemy's eyes flash red to avoid getting hit. Remember that you can sometimes use surrounding walls to jump over the enemies.
Think ahead and keep in mind that you can also hit some remote enemies or shield yourself from projectiles with your bow and chakram, removing any need to dodge them in the first place.
- Use your Time Powers.
As you journey along Mount Qaf you will gain more Time Powers. These abilities can and should be used in fights!
For instance, Rush of the Simurgh is useful for jumping over big bosses to back-stab them. Shadow of the Simurgh is critical to use against charged beam attacks that seem impossible to dodge. The Dimensional Claw can be used to capture projectiles and shoot them right back!
- Use your Athra Surges.
Athra surges can help you both on the offense and defense. Equip the Athra surges that fit your playstyle at any Wak-Wak Tree and be sure to use them repeatedly in boss fights, mindful of how they recharge.
Offensive Athra Surges like Verethragna's Smite are especially useful to cancel an incoming attack, as it can interrupt it. You can also use it once a boss has been knocked down after a counterattack, for an additional damaging combo.
- Adjust the Difficulty
It can happen that a boss is simply not working well with your playstyle. But don't fret, there are plenty of accessibility features that enable you to adapt the game's difficulty to your comfort. Even if it's just temporarily in a running session for that one boss fight.
You can set your Combat Difficulty to one of four different presets: Rookie / Warrior / Hero / Immortal.
This affects health bars or damage dealt, but also the parry reaction time, the dodge window, the Athra gauge gain and depletion rate, and even the damage received from environmental hazards.
All these parameters can be set separately in the Custom Difficulty setting. Don't hesitate to have a look.
