An update about the Six August 2020 Major
June 18, 2020As we are preparing for the upcoming launch of the Season 2020 - Stage 1 of the new Rainbow Six Esports regional leagues, we have new information to share regarding the Six August 2020 Major. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the health and well-being of our teams, developers, players, partners, and audience remains our first priority. We have taken the decision to switch the format of the Six August 2020 Major from LAN to online.
Below, you will find some details about the new direction we are taking for each of our 4 regions, North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. We are confident that this alternative format will maintain high competition in our programs, as well as create those exciting moments we are all waiting for to mark the end of the stage.
Let’s take a look at what changes will be implemented:
introduction to the revamped six august 2020 major
Throughout the entire month of August, online events will be held across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. These online events will provide teams with a chance to prove that they are the best in their region. Rainbow Six Esports fans can already mark the dates!
The schedule for each of the regional events is as followed:
- Asia-Pacific: August 3-9
- Latin America: August 7-9
- North America: August 14-16
- Europe: August 20-23
In addition to proving their dominance over their region in Stage 1, teams will also battle it out during these online events for their share of the Six August 2020 Major prizepool, $125,000 USD being allocated to each region.
Here are the details about each region:
the north-american online event
The North American region will see four teams compete online in the Six August 2020 Major. At the end of Stage 1, the top three US Division teams will automatically be invited to the Major. The fourth team will be determined through a North American Qualifier, between the fourth, fifth, and sixth ranking teams in the US Division and the first ranking team in the Canada Division.
Based on their performance during the online event, the teams will get a share of the $125,000 USD total prizepool as followed:
- 1st place: $62,500
- 2nd place: $31,250
- 3rd place: $18,750
- 4th place: $12,500
the european online event:
The top four teams at the end of Stage 1 of the European League will qualify to compete online at the Six August 2020 Major European event.
Based on their performance, the teams will get a share of the $125,000 USD total prizepool as followed:
- 1st place: $62,500
- 2nd place: $31,250
- 3rd place: $18,750
- 4th place: $12,500
the latin-american region:
In Latin America, the Six August 2020 Major will adapt to the 3-division structure of the region at the end of Stage 1.
- The top four teams from the Brazil Division will compete online on August 7th-9th.
- The top two teams from the Mexico Division will compete in a final best of 5 match.
- The winning team of the LATAM South Division will also get a share of the August 2020 Major total prize money.
In Latin America, the $125,000 USD total prizepool of the Six August 2020 Major will be split as followed:
Brazil Division Online Event:
- 1st place: $50,000
- 2nd place: $25,000
- 3rd place: $15,000
- 4th place: $10,000
Mexico Division Final Match:
- 1st place: $10,000
- 2nd place: $7,000
Top LATAM South Division Team:
- $8,000
the asia-pacific region:
In Asia-Pacific, the Six August 2020 Major will adapt to the specific structure of the region at the end of Stage 1.
- The top six teams from the North Division will compete online.
- The top three teams from the Oceanic Nationals will compete online.
- The top four teams from the South-Asia Nationals will compete online.
In Asia-Pacific, the $125,000 USD total prizepool of the Six August 2020 Major will be split as followed:
North Division Online Event:
- 1st place: $25,600
- 2nd place: $16,800
- 3rd place: $12,800
- 4th place: $10,400
- 5th place: $8,000
- 6th place: $6,400
Oceania Online Event:
- 1st place: $15,000
- 2nd place: $9,000
- 3rd place: $6,000
South Asia Online Event:
- 1st place: $7,500
- 2nd place: $3,750
- 3rd place: $2,250
- 4th place: $1,500
More details on the specifics of the formats and schedules will be shared by each region later on.
six invitational global points update
The regional leagues and the Six Majors are all a part of the journey towards qualification for the Six Invitational. The revamp of the Six August 2020 Major also leads to adjustments of how the Global Standings will be distributed during Stage 1. In order to maintain a point distribution that acknowledges online performances in Regional leagues, Global Points will be distributed as followed for Stage 1.

The top eight teams from the European and North-American regions will be awarded the following amount of points:
- 1st - 510
- 2nd - 390
- 3rd - 330
- 4th - 275
- 5th - 225
- 6th - 180
- 7th - 140

latin america and asia-pacific
In Stage 1, the LATAM and APAC regions who cannot determine a regional top eight through online play only, will have teams from their sub-regions (respectively Brazil, Mexico, LATAM South and APAC North & South) ranked in the regional top eight as follows:

- 1st - Brazil Division 1st - 510
- 2nd - Brazil Division 2nd - 390
- 3rd - Brazil Division 3rd - 330
- 4th - Brazil Division 4th - 275
