Busted: Myths About Working In The Gaming Industry

The quintessential pursuit of having a 'stable' profession in a 'safe' industry is well known. Naturally, it brings in questions around whether careers in the Indian gaming industry is a lucrative option or not. But fret not! We are here to bust some commonly believed myths in the gaming industry. 

Myth 1: Non-gamers have fewer opportunities at gaming companies

Myth 2: The video gaming industry in India has no growth opportunity

According to The Asia-10 Games Market report by Niko Partners, India has a massive 396 million userbase in gaming. This makes it the second largest gamer base worldwide, i.e. 50.2 per cent of all gamers. With a growth-rate of 21 per cent in revenue, India is said to be the fastest growing market among the top 10 Asian countries.

With evolving technologies in virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc., Ubisoft India makes efforts to adopting the latest tech and innovations in game development and training its employees to stay ahead of the curve.

Myth 3: Women rarely hold leadership positions in the gaming industry  

Based on the *Global Gaming Gender Balance Scorecard *by 20-first, about 16 per cent of executive teams account for women in the gaming industry. In our continued efforts to bring gender parity across all job roles, we strive to put diversity, inclusion, and belonging at the heart of everything we do.

Myth 4: Gaming is a less preferred career choice for women

With the advent of new gaming studios in India employing across multiple roles, women have begun exploring career opportunities in this industry lately.
