BRANCH OFF THE MAIN PATH

By now you know your main mission when entering Mount Qaf, but it wouldn't be a metroidvania-inspired game without side quests, secrets, and challenges.

Caution ahead there are spoilers in this article

Some hidden quests offer additional knowledge into the world of Mount Qaf while others are more cryptic, but they still offer great rewards.

There are many secrets you can find as you explore the world and sometimes the path less traveled has something hidden to be found or a platforming section that will test your skills. If you can't seem to get there yet, don't worry as you will be able to do it later. Hint: take a screenshot using your Eye of the Wanderer so you can go back and see what you missed.

You will also encounter friends along the way who need your help. If you offer your assistance, they will reward you!

For example, Kaheva has a great amulet waiting for you. Head to the Haven to find her, the blacksmith for the Gods, and she will have a side quest for you named "Ancient Power Unearthed".

Locate the stone and head back to her, and she will give you an amulet named the "Shield of Mithra".

This amulet makes sure that after a successful parry, the parried enemy is slowed. And if you manage an absolutely perfect parry, all enemies within the created time bubble are slowed! What a great reward to receive, thank you Kaheva.

But aside from Side quests, there are other secrets that can grant you rewards, such as the Mystery chests.

Whenever you encounter one of these black altars on the ground, pay attention to your surroundings. Performing specific actions in some places can trigger the appearance of mysterious chests, filled with unique outfits, but also precious currency such as Xerxes coins or Azure Damascus ore.

These chests haven't been placed through Mount Qaf randomly: they have been placed by a mysterious character, The Architect. She's the one who designed the whole citadel, many years ago. Who knows, you might even cross her path in this time-twisted place...

Finally, sometimes you will encounter extra-tough platforming challenges, aside from the main path. They are always optional, but taking the time (and effort!) to complete them will grant you an Azure Damascus Ore - a precious resource to upgrade your swords, bow and chakram. It might be the key to defeating mighty bosses.
There are many other side quests, puzzles, and secrets. Be sure to travel off the main path occasionally, you'll never know what you could find.
