If you've been putting off exploring the pandemic-ravaged streets of The Division's Manhattan, you'll have a chance to do so this month. Two chances, actually, because PC and console owners are getting separate free weekends in September:
PC Free Weekend
- Update: The Division Free Weekend for PC owners is now also available from September 13 until September 16 via Uplay. Click here for more info.
PlayStation 4 Free Weekend
- PS Plus members can jump in beginning on September 13, and play everything The Division has to offer until September 16. To get started, click here or find the game's PSN Store page, and click "Try the Free Demo" next to the "Add to Cart" button.
Xbox One Free Weekend
- Xbox Live Gold members can also start playing on September 13, and play the full Division experience until September 16. Grab the game by clicking here or check the Games with Gold section on your Xbox One.
GET THE GAME FOR UP TO 70% OFF
If you're ready to keep playing after the trial period is over, the Standard and Gold Editions of The Division will be on sale for 70% off via Uplay from September 6-10; on Xbox Live from September 11-20; and on PSN from September 13-25. Additionally, select vanity items will be on sale for up to 50% off on all platforms from September 6-19. Any progress you make during the free weekend will carry over to the full version of the game, and players who've already played the current trial version – which offers full access until level 8 or six hours of playtime – will still have full access during the free weekend.
PC SALE: SEPTEMBER 6-10
PS4 SALE: SEPTEMBER 11-20
XBOX SALE: SEPTEMBER 13-25
Also starting September 6, players will be able to work toward the new seventh Shield, Talon, by reaching at least a 3,000 Commendation score overall. This counts retroactively, so any Agents who've already hit that number will unlock the Shield. Talon, like other Shields, is a special Commendation that rewards players who achieve specific tasks with in-game items including audio logs and Exotic weapons, and which will place them in a tiered system with new rewards in The Division 2 when it launches on March 15, 2019.
There's a lot to discover as you restore order to Manhattan, so gear up and get ready to hit the streets. Here's what you'll need to know beforehand:
FREE WEEKEND 101

I ALREADY DOWNLOADED THE FREE TRIAL FOR THE DIVISION. CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE FREE WEEKEND?
Absolutely. The current free trial offer, which gives players full access to the main game until they reach level 8 or complete six hours of playtime, will be on hiatus during the free weekend but reinstated once the free weekend promotion ends. Players who have downloaded the free trial before September 13 will see trial restrictions lifted until the end of the free weekend.
WILL MY PROGRESS FROM THE FREE WEEKEND CARRY ON IF I PURCHASE THE FULL GAME?
Absolutely. All of your progress and characters will carry over if you decide to upgrade to the full game.
