Week 10 came and went as Pro League fans saw more exhilarating Pro League action grace their screens. For those of you who missed out on the action, read on for a recap.
North America (NA):
The night was hardly old when the first game ended, with Evil Geniuses (EG) demolishing Noble esports 6-0 as the NA titans continued to flex their muscles in the weeks after the Six Major Paris. Obey Alliance was the next to fall, suffering yet another loss -- this time 3-6 to mousesports (mouz). In a surprising result, C9 got their third win as they took down league leaders SK Gaming 6-4. Finally, Spacestation Gaming (SSG) continued a strong march towards potential LAN qualification with an impeccable 6-2 victory over Rogue.
The week’s results ended with EG finally grabbing a solid hold on 1st place, as SK Gaming slipped to 2nd. SSG equalled the 17 point-haul of SK, but a poorer round difference only saw them only get as far as 3rd place. Rogue stayed stationary in 4th, but the 3 points for C9’s win resulted in Noble dropping down to the relegation spot in 7th place.
Next week, tune in to catch relegation candidates Noble and Obey battle it out in an attempt to escape their predicament, while SSG takes on SK Gaming to fight for second place.
Latin America (LATAM):
Unlike NA, the first game in LATAM went the full distance when Team oNe drew 5-5 with BootKamp Gaming (BKG) to take home one point each. However, the next two games were notably quicker, as Immortals ended Black Dragons’ (BD) strong post-Paris run with a 6-2 win, while paiN Gaming stunned 2nd-place Team Liquid 6-1. The final game of the night, between FaZe Clan and Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) was closer than expected, but NiP still was unable to turn their fortune around as they lost 4-6.
These results mean FaZe extend their lead at the top of the table to 5 points, while Immortals move closer to their pre-Paris position as they climb to 3rd place. Slightly down the table, paiN Gaming jumped ahead of BKG into 5th place, with BD and NiP stuck together in 7th and 8th respectively.
Coming up on Week 11, don’t miss NiP’s attempts to escape the pull of relegation against Team Liquid, and catch the 3rd and 4th placed teams of Immortals and Team oNe going head-to-head.
Europe (EU):
Last but not least, EU capped off the week’s Pro League games, starting with a 6-1 decimation of PENTA Sports by the German Mock-it squad. The French compatriots of Millenium and Team Vitality also went up against each other, with the former winning by a 6-3 scoreline. Next, in the highly anticipated matchup between the top two teams in EU, G2 Esports came out on top of Team Secret with a 6-3 win as well. Finally, Chaos turned up the hurt for Supremacy with a 6-1 victory, with the French team almost guaranteed to be sent back to the Challenger League.
As such, G2 Esports’ lead became fully solidified at the top, with the 12-point gap to 3rd place meaning that the team will be guaranteed a spot at the Pro League Finals in Rio de Janeiro this November. Below them, however, Mock-it pulled ahead of Team Secret to take 2nd place, while Millenium turns up the pressure on Team Secret after passing PENTA to take 4th place. Chaos pulled themselves up to 6th place as well, though this means that Team Vitality has dropped down to the relegation zone in 7th place.
More entertaining games are to come next week, when 4th placed Millenium goes up against 5th place PENTA, while Mock-it attempts to keep a hold of their 2nd place when they face the struggling Team Vitality.
