We are excited to announce that Season 3 Operation Skull Rain will be set in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This week, we will offer you behind-the-scenes look on the production of Operation Skull Rain with some daily blog action this week.
Season 3 is focused on improving the health of the game, but what do we actually mean when we talk about the game’s “Health Program”?
Having come a long way in the past months, when we sat down to conceptualize Season 3 we had one goal in mind: longevity.
Xavier Marquis, Creative Director of Rainbow Six Siege, used the metaphor of house shopping to illustrate the reasoning behind the game’s Health Program: “If you’re looking to buy a house, you check the pipes, the foundations, and everything else. That’s because you’re planning on committing to this place - to this game. As core gamers ourselves, the goal was and always will be to build a solid home for our Siege players, a place to come back to because you can rely on its precise gameplay, and well, because it grew on you—and with you".

Community feedback on the Forums, subreddit, and social media has been critical to designing the Game Health Program for Season 3. The health improvements include animation clipping, replay system, exploitable glitches, and anti-cheat. You read that right; we will soon be deploying the first integration of an additional anti-cheating system to our game: BattlEye.
This cheating countermeasure is at the heart our Health Program. BattlEye is a client-side anti-cheating system that prevents players from loading the game when detecting cheats. We’ll soon be in position to share the exact launch of the preliminary integration of BattlEye (Beta).
To heighten the well-being of your game experience, we also improved the Kill cam accuracy. We tweaked a few things to make the replay camera as accurate as possible from the perspective of the player.
Another major Game Health improvement for this season is the dynamic clipping for skinned objects. This reduces greatly the amount of body parts leaking through walls and shield.
These are just a few of the major improvements to the health of the game. With so many of you playing our game every day, we truly want that experience to be the best as possible and for the long term. Looking to the future beyond Season 3, Marquis wants to reiterate that “Siege is designed to last for years”.
