It was yet again an exciting week’s worth of games in the highest tier of Rainbow Six competition. There were games with dominance, games with upsets, and games that thrilled. Missed out on the action? No problem, here’s a recap of all the action from Week 11:
North America (NA):
The night started off with the two relegation candidates of Noble esports and Obey Alliance going head-to-head in an attempt to use the other as a stepping stone to escape the relegation zone. However, the spoils were shared as each team could only take home a point each. SK Gaming then took on the challengers of Spacestation Gaming (SSG), and finally arrested their post-Paris slump with a 6-4 victory. It was then Evil Geniuses’ (EG) turn to lose, as the arguably best NA team fell 3-6 to an England-inspired mousesports. Finally, it was Rogue who dropped points in a frustrating matchup against Cloud9 when they drew 5-5 after being up 5-1.
The results meant that SK Gaming reclaimed their position in 1st-place, edging out EG by virtue of having beaten them pre-Paris. On the other hand, Rogue fell down to 4th place, with mouz leaping ahead of them by a single point. Cloud9, Noble, and Obey saw no changes in their positioning from 6th to 8th, with all teams in near-equal danger of relegation.
Next week, mouz takes on Rogue in a bid to turn up the heat for the team that was only last season considered to comfortably be North America’s second-best, while all three relegation candidates go up against the current top three.
Latin America (LATAM):
Latin America kicked things off with a huge upset, when the embattled Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) squad defeated Team Liquid 6-2 to secure their second win of the season. Curiously, Liquid had brought back Silence to replace psk1 for the game, but with the former FaZe Clan and Liquid coach having last played almost a year ago, the gambit seemed to have failed. FaZe themselves had no such problems as they took down paiN Gaming 6-4, while Immortals beat Team oNe 6-3. The last game of the night had Black Dragons (BD) secure their third win of the season, as the former Challenger League team beat BootKamp Gaming (BKG) 6-4.
As a result, Immortals shook off Team Liquid’s challenge for 2nd place, with the former league leaders now in 3rd place. However, nothing else changed in the league table, with both NiP and BD maintaining an equal distance to each other in the relegation zone.
Don’t miss the Week 12 games, however, where much could change when NiP dukes it out with BKG, and then is immediately followed by BD taking on a weakened Liquid.
Europe (EU):
Finally, the EU games started off with PENTA Sports trading round after round to draw with Millenium, before G2 Esports cut through Supremacy to win 6-1. Team Secret then gave themselves a much-needed boost in confidence with a 6-2 victory against Supremacy, while Team Vitality failed to escape the relegation zone with yet another loss -- this time a 4-6 to Mock-it Esports.
With the week’s games ended, there was absolutely no movement in the league standings, with every team maintaining its position from Week 10. Team Secret and Mock-it did give themselves breathing room over Millenium, though, while PENTA Sports extended the gap to Chaos by another point.
More entertaining games are to come next week, when the 1st and 2nd placed teams of G2 Esports and Mock-it face each other, and Secret attempts to capitalise on that during their match against PENTA.
