Welcome to ancient Greece! The release of Assassin's Creed® Odyssey is here, and with such a vast open world full of possibilities, there's much to explore and do. Revisit some of the new gameplay features below to get an overview of what to look forward to.

Player Choice and Dialogue

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is structured around player choice. You are able to create your own unique story through the relationships you build, or hinder, with characters throughout the world – in turn playing a crucial part in the fate of Greece with your alliances. In this reactive world, be careful which choices you make, as decisions may have consequences later in your experience.

The addition of dialogue choices creates dynamic new tones and motivations, as your playstyle is connected with the story. Do you want to approach situations with compassion or with a strong hand? Your strategies will shape your relationships and ultimately result in game-altering situations.

Abilities and Combat

As a Spartan-turned-mercenary, your fighting style abilities are very dynamic and customizable. There are more than 30 abilities that can be upgraded, mix-and-matched, and assigned to your active combat. With the three different focuses on combat abilities (Hunter, Warrior, and Assassin), you can build up skills as a true unstoppable warrior or take the stealth approach with hidden assassinations. Additional special abilities can be unleashed by gaining adrenaline while dodging, parrying, or landing perfect hits against opponents. As these are earned, you can deliver devastating special ability attacks on your enemies, though they also have some of their own to challenge you further.

This combined range of abilities assigned to your loadout will create a unique combat playstyle catered to you.

Naval and Crew Recruitment

The sea surrounds all in this open world map, and naval exploration is an important aspect of your journey. Your ship will be customizable, and as you become stronger along the way, so will your ship with additional upgrades.

Naval combat focuses around more close-range and intense engagement with fast-paced battles. Heightened mobility of ships allows for quicker turns and speed boosts to dodge incoming attacks or to destroy the opposition by cleaving the boat in half. You can board a ship and eliminate its remaining crew, which offers looting opportunities. Destroying a ship in its entirety results in higher resources – the larger the ship, the larger the reward.

To aid in your naval combat, you'll be able to recruit a crew from the open world to accompany you and give you extra perks for your ship. Lieutenants may have added abilities that can gain your ship extra boosting speeds or stamina. You can also call your crew into combat on the mainland as a distraction or fight alongside them – they're by your side through it all.
