Hey hey, icons!
It's tiiiiiiime!
You'll soon be receiving an update to the Just Dance 2024 Controller app which will bring with it a new system that we're working with you to perfect - the Beta for the new Camera Controller!
Our goal is to allow you to use your mobile device to play the game hands-free, with your phone's camera (in landscape mode) detecting your moves and scoring you accordingly. This is a complex feature that we've spent time getting just right - now, we're in the home stretch to get it perfect alongside you, and use your feedback to make it as great as it can be.
There are a few important things to note about this feature;
- The feature will only be available for iOS players to test for the time being.
- The application requires a minimum of iOS 14.4 and an iPhone 6S or newer.
- The scoring is satisfying enough to play comfortably, and we're constantly improving it thanks to your feedback!
- The feature will only support 15 solo maps at the launch of the Beta.
- You'll be able to use the Phone Camera Controller feature through the Just Dance 2024 Controller app from 12th December 2023.
- In order to enable camera scoring compatibility with the maps listed below, if you have already downloaded the songs then you must erase and re-download the maps from your console.
As mentioned above, you'll be able to try this feature on 15 maps from across Just Dance 2023 Edition and Just Dance 2024 Edition, and all of them will only be one-player maps.
The following are the maps that support the feature;
From Just Dance 2023 Edition:
- Encanto
- Playground
- Walking On Sunshine
- As It Was
- Sissy That Walk
From Just Dance 2024 Edition:
- Flowers
- Wasabi
- Rapper's Delight
- After Party
- I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)
- Survivor (Fitness Version)
- Despecha
- Kill Bill
- Seven
- Sail
In-game, you'll be able to tell which maps support the feature by the following icon:
And, when selecting a song, you can sort for songs that support camera scoring in the 'Songs' tab.
Please do remember that this feature is in beta. We're happy enough with how it performs to let you enjoy it, but we'll be closely monitoring your feedback to really refine it and make it as accurate as possible, so it can be a viable method way to enjoy Just Dance with many more maps supporting it in the future alongside more devices (like Android).
Thanks for all your continued support on Just Dance, keep letting us know how we can make this the best experience for you! Keep the party going with us on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram.
